About Me

Teresa Guarda received her PhD in Systems and Information Technologies in 2015 from Minho University. She is researcher in ALGORITMI Research Centre of Minho University, Portugal, (research team Intelligent Data Systems (IDS), Information Systems and Technologies (IST) R&D group); is member and responsible for Conferences and International Relations of the interdisciplinary research group BITrum, Spain; Vice President for Communication of the International Society for the Study of Information, Austria; and member and researcher of GSIS The Institute for a Global Sustainable Society. She has been a professor and researcher in different academic institutions in Portugal since 1991; currently, she is Full Professor of Santa Elena Provincial State University (Ecuador) and was the Director of the CIST Research and Innovation Center, of Faculty of Systems and Telecommunications, Santa Elena Provincial State University (Ecuador) between October of 2019 and February of 2023. She is Director of the project GlossaLab Integrating and creating knowledge through interdisciplinary glossaries and semantic analysis and interoperability tools; and research team member of the projects glossaLAB.2.edu: Integrating and creating knowledge through interdisciplinary glossaries and analysis tools and Integrating and co-creating learning through interdisciplinary glossaries and analysis tools and semantic interoperability, as a semantic interoperability researcher, and the project glossaLAB.2.uni: Integrating and co-creating learning through the articulation of conceptual networks based on interdisciplinary glossaries in a subsidiarity relationship.She is research team member of BITrum-Research Group in: the European FIRE project, "Fostering Integrative Research and Education" in which European, Ecuadorian and Mexican academic institutions participate with the purpose of developing interdisciplinary research capabilities through the development of research laboratories and social innovation; European project cycLAB, "Multidimensional development of bicycle mobility linked to scientific-technological studies, citizen movement and social welfare" in which participate academic institutions, energy agencies, private companies and Spanish and Portuguese municipalities; inter-institutional scientific collaboration glossarium BITru-UPSE, "Development of interdisciplinary glossaries as tools for the integration of knowledge in the study of information and the general study of systems" in which they participate BITrum-Research Group, the Santa Elena Peninsula State University (UPSE, Ecuador), the University of León (ULE, Spain), and the Bertalanffy Center for the Study of Systems Science (BCSSS, Austria). She has coordinated the international project “glossaLAB”, and has participated as a researcher in the following projects whose results offer a fundamental baseline for the INSIGHT’s project: glossaLAB.2.edu, glossaLAB.2.uni, glossariumBITri-UPSE, PRIMER, cycLAB. She already has relevant indexed publications in the main research topics: Pervasive Systems, Marketing Intelligence, Intelligent Decision Support Systems, Intelligent Systems, Business Intelligence, Crowdsourcing, Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, Data Security, Information Science, Smart Destinations, Internet-of-Things, Computer Theory, Knowledge Management, Cybersecurity, Applied Social and Educational Technologies. Has also been organizer of several conferences and workshops, and reviewer board member of many indexed journals and conferences in these topics, all the publications are index at Scopus. She is editor of some books, conference proceedings, and guest editor of journals. She highlighted the last 3 years.
