2About Me 
Júlio Duarte is an Assistant Researcher at the ALGORITMI Research Centre at the University of Minho, Portugal. Throughout his academic career, he worked on several academic projects in which he acquired knowledge in the areas of knowledge engineering, systems analysis, data mining, software development, data warehousing, data analysis and data mining, artificial and business intelligence, interoperability, and systems integration. Júlio Duarte has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho, Portugal, with a thesis centred on Interoperability in a Healthcare Environment. He also has a master's degree in Medical Informatics with a study focused in Electronic Medical Record. He has been a member of the Information Systems Technologies research team in the Intelligent Data Systems (IDS) at the ALGORITMI Centre at the University of Minho. As a researcher he has participated in several projects funded by different entities including, ICDS4IM - Intelligent Clinical Decision Support for Intensive Medicine, Deus Ex Machina – Symbiotic technology for societal efficiency gains, INNOVATIVE Car HMI and Easy Ride - Experience is Everything, the last two resulting from the partnership between Bosch and the University of Minho. He has also participated in the organisation of international workshops (including FiCloud 2017 and FiCloud 2018), is a reviewer for indexed journals and international conferences and a member of the scientific committee of several international conferences. He is currently guest Editor of a Special Issue entitled Advances in Machine Learning for Healthcare Applications. In addition, he has held a position as Assistant Professor of Artificial Intelligence Techniques to the Engineering and Management of Information Systems Course at the University of Minho. He has also already been an invited assistant in some units of the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave and the Piaget Institute of Vila Nova de Gaia. He has more then 30 indexed articles and 140 citations, with a Scopus h-index of 6.
