About Me

Isabel Ramos is an Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Department of Information Systems (DSI), School of Engineering of the University of Minho, Portugal and a senior researcher at the Algoritmi Research Centre (https://algoritmi.uminho.pt). She lead the research group Information Systems and Technologies for the Transformation of Organizations and Society (ISTTOS) from 2008 to 2015. She was the Director of the Doctoral Programme in Information Systems and Technologies (2014-2019). Isabel Ramos holds several leadership roles. She is the Head of the Department of Information Systems, President of the Portuguese Association for Information Systems (https://ptais.apsi.pt/) and was Chair of the Technical Commission 8 of the International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP) between 2019 and 2023. Isabel is vice president for membership services and chapters for the Association for Information Systems (AIS) since 2022 (https://aisnet.org/page/AISCouncil). Her scientific performance is notable for her willingness in exploring new knowledge frontiers, resulting in numerous publications, including co-authored books, conference proceedings, book chapters, and articles in prestigious journals. Isabel Ramos's career also includes significant contributions to international academic communities through her involvement in scientific networks such as AIS, IFIP TC8, and ERCIS (https://www.ercis.org/). She has demonstrated leadership in coordinating research groups and projects, especially in international contexts, reflecting her ability to foster collaboration and secure European project funding. Isabel Ramos is the associate editor of journals and conference tracks. She has served on conference and event program committees for the Association for Information Systems, including the European Conference on Information Systems (https://aisnet.org/page/ECISPage) and International Conference on Information Systems (https://aisnet.org/page/ICISPage). Isabel Ramos is Associate Editor for the journal Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS – ISSN: 15293181; SCImago Journal Rank Q2), since December 2020 (https://aisel.aisnet.org/cais/editorialboard.html) and is a member of the Editorial Board of several others, namely Enterprise Information Systems (EIS - SCImago Journal Rank Q1), International Journal of Knowledge Engineering and Management (IJKEM) and Revista de Administração Mackenzie (RAM). Isabel Ramos supervises research work towards the development of innovative systems to support knowledge management, in collaboration with companies from various economic sectors. It integrates or has integrated projects funded by the ERASMUS+, Horizon 2020, FP7 and previous programs. She collaborates with University of Minho’s partner companies to define and implement knowledge management initiatives in the areas of organizational learning, organizational memory and decision support for social systems of distributed cognition, and innovation. Isabel Ramos was invited to participate in mobilities at the following universities: Carneggie-Mellon University, USA (2010); University of Adger, Norway (2015); University of Muenster, Germany (2018); Georgia State University, USA (2018) and Federal University of Santa Catarina (2020).
