About Me

Nicolas F. Lori graduated in Physics by the University of Coimbra in 1993, completed a PhD degree in Physics by Washington University in St. Louis in 2001 and completed a PhD degree in Informatics by University of Minho in 2020. NF Lori published over 35 papers in international peer review journals (such as PNAS and Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging) with over 2000 citations; with only a small fraction of the papers published with the PhD supervisor. NF Lori completed the (co-)supervision of 6 master degree students. He was PI in a 180.000 € national project grant, and co-Investigator on several national projects totaling over 1.400.000 €. He has been in over 40 international abstracts. He was 2 years a graduate teaching assistant and 4 years a research assistant at the WashingtonUniversity in St Louis Physics Department (USA); 2 years a Post-doctoral researcher on diffusion MRI at the "Commission for the Atomic Energy" in Orsay-Ville (France); 18 months a Post-doctoral research associate on diffusion MRI at Neuroimaging Laboratories, Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University School of Medicine, Saint Louis, USA; 2 years as a tenure track Assistant Professor in Antonio Damasio’s group, first at the Department of Neurology of the University of Iowa in Iowa City (USA), and then at the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles (USA); and then an “Investigador Auxiliar (Ciencia 2007)” at IBILI in the University of Coimbra. Fulbright fellow during PhD, and was then vice-President of Fulbrighters Portugal. He was also Director of the Laboratory for Neuroimaging in Neuroscience of INECO-INCYT at Rosario (Santa Fe, Argentina), and a Researcher at the ICVS/3Bs (Research Group: NERD) of University of Minho in Braga/Guimarães (Portugal), and at the Centre Algoritmi (Research Group: CST; Lab: ISLAB) of the University of Minho in Braga/Guimarães (Portugal). He was then a researcher at "Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores Investigação e Desenvolvimento" (INESC-ID) in Lisbon (Portugal). He is now an Assistant Professor at the University of the Azores (Portugal), and a researcher at the Centre Algoritmi of the University of Minho in Braga (Portugal).
