6About Me
Luís Louro (PhD) is a Senior Researcher at the Centro ALGORITMI of the University of Minho, in the R&D group of Industrial Electronics, R&D lab of Control, Automation and Robotics. He has a Junior Researcher contract DL 57/2016 (CRP) with the Centro ALGORITMI. He obtained his PhD degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering, area of Robotics, Automation and Control in 2010 from the University of Minho, Portugal, with the thesis: “Control and Representations for Human-Robot Collaboration Tasks”. His research focuses on cognitive Robotics, human-robot interaction and collaboration, autonomous navigation, uni- and multi-robot systems, and uni- and bimanual robotic manipulation. During the current contract (since 2019), he has taught several curricular units to the Industrial Electronic Engineering course at the University of Minho, and has also taught at the Lusíada Norte University (2014-2019) and at the Vale do Sousa Health School (CESPU group) (2010-2012). He is the author or co-author of 25 indexed (e.g. ISI, Scopus) publications in international high-quality peer-reviewed journals and conferences. He has co-supervised 1 PhD thesis and supervised 17 MSc dissertations (6 completed). He has been awarded 12 prizes, among them the young engineer innovation award 2003, and more recently he had na article awarded with the best paper award at ICARSC2022 and in 2020 the Most Popular Presentation (journal track) award at ICDL-EpiRob 2020 conference. He has participated in several research projects financed by national and European funds. He is currently a researcher in the project I-CATER (Intelligent Robotic Coworker Assistant for Industrial Tasks with an Ergonomics Rational), funded by FCT, ref. PTDC/EEI-ROB/3488/2021, as well as in the project PT Smart Retail (Ref. PPR/18_SMARTRETAIL), funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) through the Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation - IAPMEI, I.P. He is also involved in the project “Be.neutral - Mobility Agenda for Carbon Neutrality in Cities”, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) through the Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation - IAPMEI, I.P.
