0About Me 
José Saias is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics from the School of Science and Technology, and a researcher at VISTA Lab research unit from Centro ALGORITMI, both at the University of Évora. He holds a PhD in computer science (on Natural Language Processing and question answering systems, in 2010) from University of Évora. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence (question-answering, opinion mining and persuasion detection in digital content), Distributed Systems and Data Security. Former Director of the Informatics Department at ECT, University of Évora. José Saias participated as member of project application evaluation panels: 2018 – RCI managed by AICEP, evaluated by Agência Nacional de Inovação (ANI) 2023 - Advanced Computing Projects: Artificial Intelligence in the Cloud, FCT He has participated as research team member in several funded projects, including NanoSen-AQM (nano sensors and IoT for monitoring air quality); APRA-CPv2 (Machine Learning about service churn and recommendation systems); and MOPREVIS (AI-based methods for road safety). He has activity in organizing scientific events (INForum 2013, CLEF2016, PROPOR-2020) and as a member of the Program Committee of several scientific conferences. He collaborates on research projects with international consortiums and provides consultancy and specialized services to foreign companies within the scope of international cooperation. He supervised 15 MSc students (with successfully completed dissertation). José Saias also has several collaborations with Industry, Public Administration and the Social sector.
