About Me

He graduated in Systems and Informatics Engineering, University of Minho, in 1992, a Masters in Informatics Management from the same institution in 1997 and a PhD in Informatics from the same institution since 2004. It is currently guiding 16 doctoral projects, 9 of which were completed successfully, more 40 MSc thesis, and several participation in doctoral juries. I have more than 300 publications in books, book chapters, magazines and proceedings of international and national conferences, of which 283 are indexed in the most important repositories (ISI WoS, Scopus, DBLP, SpringerLink, ACM Digital Library or IEEE Xplore). Some publications are still awaiting indexing in these repositories. It has 1758 citations in Scopus (h-index=21) from authors from 87 different countries. It has 742 citations in the ISI WoS (h-index=9). It has 3268 citations on Google Scholar (h-index=29). I published the following documents: 2 scientific books; 67 articles in international journals, 51 of which are indexed in SCOPUS as Article and 2 as Review. ; 18 book chapters indexed in SCOPUS; 215 articles in the proceedings of international scientific meetings with review, of which 98 as Springer book chapters and 32 as Elsevier book chapters; edition of 6 books of scientific meeting; edition of 2 international magazines, with JCR or SJR impact factor. It should be noted that: 128 publications are indexed by SCIMAGO-SJR, of which 57 are in the 1st and 2nd quartile of their category; It is 31 publications are indexed by JCR, of which 12 are in the 1st and 2nd quartile of their category. The publications are indexed in indexing engines, most of them in Scopus (253 articles), ISI Web of Science (159 articles) and DBLP (167 articles) (data collected on July 19, 2023). I also made 8 communications at conferences. Moderated 13 conference sessions. It identified 52 prototypes developed in partnership with other institutions (in institutions linked to law and in various health units), all of them accompanied by the respective technical reports. His research work is related to database systems and knowledge representation, multi-agent systems, the electronic health record, interoperability and integration of information systems and the application of artificial intelligence to problem solving in medical and clinical area. At the University of Minho, in this academic year, is responsible for Database disciplines and Process Clinical Electronic (Master in Biomedical Engineering), and collaborates in the teaching of Database course (Degree in Computer Science) and Support Systems Decision (Master in Computer Science)
