5About Me 
Susana Costa is the Operations and Project Management Coordinator at the Landscape Laboratory (Laboratório da Paisagem) in Guimarães. In this role, she provides technical coordination and support for multidisciplinary projects in the fields of sustainability, innovation, and territorial development. The Laboratory’s work focuses on circular economy, environmental education, climate adaptation, and nature-based solutions, promoting collaboration with municipalities, companies, and research institutions. Susana also contributes to technical capacity building, scientific dissemination, and strategic planning, reinforcing the Laboratory’s role as a technical and educational reference in the region. In parallel, she collaborates with the University of Minho as an Invited Assistant Professor and serves on the Steering Committee of the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Aerospace Engineering, teaching and conducting research in Systems Engineering, Human Factors, and Safety. Susana holds a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a Master's in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho. She has been an Occupational Safety and Hygiene Specialist since 2010 and a certified internal auditor of Integrated Management Systems for Quality, Environment, and Safety since 2015. Currently, she serves on the Technical Committee of the Portuguese Society for Occupational Safety and Hygiene (SPOSHO), where she directs the Occupational Hygiene portfolio. She is currently supervising one PhD candidate and several Master's students. She has been on the International Scientific Committee of the Occupational Safety and Hygiene (SHO) Symposium since 2016, a member of the Advisory Board of the Conference on Safety Management and Human Factors (SMHF) since 2017, and a member of the Future Technologies Conference (FTC) Technical Program Committee since 2020. Susana is an author and reviewer of several articles in scientific journals, symposia, and conferences, and co-guest editor of a special issue in Safety Science. She has participated as a jury member in several PhD and Master's defences. Previously, she was the Research and Industry Liaison Coordinator at the MIT Portugal Program and was involved in the INNOVCAR and EasyRide projects, a partnership between the University of Minho and Bosch. She has collaborated with various institutions and companies in professional training and consulting in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Occupational Safety and Hygiene, and Sustainability.
