4About Me 
Paulo Garrido is an Associate Professor at the Department of Industrial Electronics at School of Engineering at the University of Minho and is a researcher at the ALGORITMI Centre (Portugal). He teaches courses in Control and Systems Theory in the MSc programs in Electronics and in Telecommunications. He graduated in Electrical Engineering in University of Porto (1979), and obtained the PhD degree, at University of Minho, Portugal (1994). He was Director of the Department of Industrial Electronics (2000-01) and Director of the MSc Program in Industrial Engineering (2004-06) at the University of Minho. He started his career with scientific research in the field of Computer Science (PhD thesis), in the area of Artificial Intelligence, integration of logic programming and neural networks. Developing an approach of applying Cybernetics to organizational and social problems, he has twenty indexed articles or communications on the fields of fuzzy systems, control and engineering education, business sustainability and resilience, collective intelligence in management, coordination and control of multi-agent systems. He is a member of APCA (Portuguese Association for Automatic Control). He chaired the Portuguese Conference on Automatic Control 2016.
