0About Me
João Mendes has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança, Portugal, having completed a master's degree in Industrial Engineering at the same institution. Currently attending the PhD in Engineering and Systems at the University of Minho. He is part of the research team at the Center for Research in Digitization and Intelligent Robotics (CeDRI). He currently serves as a higher technician on the OleaChain project: Skills for sustainability and innovation in the value chain of traditional olive groves in the Northern Interior of Portugal. He is responsible for data analysis and treatment, algorithms, modeling, optimization, simulation, and artificial intelligence algorithms. He develops software for classifying the different varieties of olive trees in the region through their leaves, using artificial intelligence algorithms to analyze, process, and classify. The main areas of research interest are big data, deep and machine learning, data analysis and treatment, predictive methods, and industry 4.0.
