Best Student Paper Award to UMinho in Vienna, Biomed2013

Carlos Faria, doutorando de Engenharia Biomédica na Universidade do Minho, ganhou recentemente o prémio ‘Best Student Paper Award’ na ‘10th IASTED International Conference on Biomedical Engineering’, realizada recentemente na Austria (13-15 Fev 2013), com o trabalho intitulado “Robotic Assisted Deep Brain Stimulation Neurosurgery: first steps on system development”, autores: Carlos Faria, Estela Bicho, Luís Louro, Sérgio Monteiro, Wolfram Erlhagen.
O trabalho foi desenvolvido no âmbito da dissertação de mestrado em Engenharia Biomédica, e foi orientado pela Professora Estela Bicho (Departamento Electrónica Industrial & Centro Algoritmi), e pelo Doutor Manuel Rito (Serviço de Neurocirúrgia do Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra – CHUC), tendo ainda contado com a colaboração dos Professores Wolfram Erlhagen (Departamento de Matemática e Aplicações & Centro de Matemática)e Sérgio Monteiro (Departamento Electrónica Industrial & Centro Algoritmi).

Best Student Paper Award Biomed2013

Carlos Faria, PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minho (UMinho), won the Best Student Paper Award’ at the ‘10th IASTED International Conference on Biomedical Engineering’, that took place in Innsbruck, Austria (13-15 Feb2013), with the work “Robotic Assisted Deep Brain Stimulation Neurosurgery: first steps on system development”, authors: Carlos Faria, Estela Bicho, Luís Louro, Sérgio Monteiro, Wolfram Erlhagen.
The work was developed in the scope of his Msc dissertation in Biomedical Engineering, and it was supervised by Professor Estela Bicho (Dept. of Industrial Electronics & Centre Algoritmi) and Doutor Manuel Rito (Service of Neurosurgery, Coimbra University Hospital), and in collaboration also with Professor Wolfram Erlhagen (Dept. Of Mathematics and Applications & Center for Mathematics) and Sérgio Monteiro Bicho (Dept. of Industrial Electronics & Centre Algoritmi).
