    Madalena Araújo is a Chemical Engineer and holds an M.Sc. in Industrial Management and Ph.D. in Production Engineering, both from Birmingham University (U.K.). She is Full Professor on Industrial and Technology Management at Minho University (Portugal), Production and Systems Department, School of Engineering. She is leader of the Industrial Engineering

    and Management Research Group/Line of ALGORITMI Research Centre. Her research interests are on Economics of Engineering Systems and Management, mainly Decision and Utility Modelling, Project Evaluation and Management, Risk Analysis and their applications. Her research focuses on the sustainability evaluation of industrial and energy systems, including economic, environmental and social dimensions, and on the scientific management of R&D projects, portfolio and programs. Efficient industry issues, namely related to benchmarking best practices, towards sustainability and energy efficiency are research interests being pursued under multidisciplinary scientific approaches. Participatory research has also been conducted on social impact assessment and analysis of public perception towards clean technologies and services and environmental impact assessment. She authored and coauthored around one hundred papers and supervised few dozen M.Sc. dissertations and Ph.D. theses. She has been researcher in national and European projects and University-industry collaboration projects. From 1999-2003 she was a Visiting Scholar under Socrates Program to the National University of Ireland Galway and to the Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education (U.K.);From 2004-2007 she was External Examiner of the Industrial Engineering Department of the National University of Ireland Galway, appointed by the Irish Universities Senate.From 1995-2015 she was Socrates/Erasmus Departmental Coordinator.She was Departmental Head from more than 10 years, Vice-Dean of the School of Engineering for 3 years and Head of Research Centre for 6 years.She has been evaluating project proposals for ERANET (European Commission) , EGYGERF (German Federal Ministry of Education and Research), Portugal 2020 - N2020 - COMPETE funds (ANI – Portuguese Agency for Innovation), since 2010.In November 2019 her h-index was 12/12/17 (SCOPUS/ISI/Google scholar) corresponding to 452/435/1085 citations, respectively.
