    He teaches and taught curricular units in the topics of Operational Research, Simulation, Heuristic Methods, Supply Chain Optimization in different and related fields of Industrial and Systems Engineering.He has always conducted his work in scientific R&D groups geared towards application in industrial domains and public services. He has participated in

    publicly funded projects through FCT, the European Community or through the provision of services to the Community.He is former Assistant Director of ALGORITMI (2013-17). He was a member and former header of ALGORITMI's "System Engineering Optimization and Operational Research" research line. He was a member of ALGORITMI's "Industrial Engineering and Management” research line and he is member of ALGORITMI's "Supply chain LOgistics Transportation Systems" group. ALGORITMI Research Center, is one of the largest national centers recognized by the Foundation for Science and Technology in the area of TICE, having in January 2018 more than 500 members (206 PhD researchers), most of whom are career professors from 4 departments of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho. He supervised 5 PhDs and 23 MSc students. He supervises now 2 PhD and 6 MSc. He is or was involved in the collaboration projects between Bosch Car Multimedia and ALGORITMI.He is the Portuguese member in the TC 7 - System Modeling and Optimization. This position was nominated by the Order of Engineers who is a member of IFIP - International Federation of Information Processing ICIP.
