Dr José Alberto Lencastre is lecturer and researcher of Educational Technology in the Institute of Education at University of Minho, Portugal. ​​His academic qualifications include a graduation in Visual Literacy (1991), a MSc (2002), a PhD (2009) and a Postdoctoral in Education Sciences/Educational Technology (2019). ​Teaching interests include
understanding the opportunities to enhance teaching and learning processes through technology. Jose has been developing teaching and supervision activities in Master and Doctoral Programmes exploring innovative pedagogical practices using technology (blended learning, flipped learning, gamification, game-based learning, digital storytelling). Research interests include Design-based research, Online learning, Technology-enhanced learning, Online course design and Usability. ​José is a researcher at Research Centre in Education (CIEd) and member of the research group 'Technology, Multiliteracies and Curriculum'. CIEd is hosted at the Institute of Education, University of Minho, Campus of Gualtar, Portugal. He is also researcher at Centro ALGORITMI, a research unit of the School of Engineering, University of Minho, Campus of Azurém, Portugal. Centro ALGORITMI develops R&D activity in Information and Communications Technology and Electronics (ICT&E) (cf. algoritmi.uminho.pt). At ALGORITMI José is a member of the Computer Communications and Pervasive Media (CCPM) R&D Line, developing his research in the EngageLab R&D Group.
